The swing seat made for Their Royal Highnesses was crafted from a piece of timber salvaged from HMS GANNET during recent refurbishment works. Upon giving the swing to The Prince of Wales Admiral Sir Ian Garnett, Chairman of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust said ‘Like everything in the dockyard it was made to last’.
Our Chief Executive Bill Ferris came up with the idea for the swing when the royal baby was born as he felt it was both useful and truly representative of the Dockyard, he said ‘knowing Their Royal Highnesses love of gardens and gardening we genuinely hope that it will be used at Highgrove’.
